Development of a specialized Archival Information System for the National Archives of Georgia

Idea Design Group successfully delivered a specialized Archival Information System for the National Archives of Georgia, designed to support the organization, management, search, and viewing of millions of digitized archival documents preserved across various archival institutions.

The system serves as a modern web-based platform that enables centralized management of electronic archival records while providing users with advanced search and filtering capabilities for efficient access to historical and administrative information.

The project included the development of:

✅ Multi-level user and permission management system;

✅ Archival institution, records creator, and archival fonds cataloging modules based on international archival standards (ISDIAH, ISAAR, and ISAD(G));

✅ Advanced search engine with live search functionality;

✅ Hierarchical visualization of archival collections and records;

✅ Specialized document viewer with annotation capabilities;

✅ Geographic information management and map-based search functionality;

✅ XML export and API integration features;

✅ Reporting and statistical analytics tools.

The platform was developed using Laravel Framework and MySQL database technologies and was designed to support both current and future large-scale digitization initiatives.

This project represents another important step toward the digital transformation of Georgia’s cultural and historical heritage, helping ensure the preservation, accessibility, and efficient management of valuable archival materials.
