Earthquake Hazard and Risk Assessment (UNDP)

During 2010, GIS experts of Idea Design Group worked together with Institute of Geophysics of Georgia on Tbilisi City Scenario project financed by UNDP. 

During 2010 GIS experts of Idea Design Group worked together with Institute of Geophysics of Georgia on Tbilisi City Scenario project financed by UNDP.  The project was aimed to the assessment of earthquake hazard and risk for the city of Tbilisi.  Elements at Risk Database was developed for Tbilisi, for assessment of seismic risk in the city.  Data on buildings, utility networks, transport, population distribution and probabilistic seismic hazard were collected and organized in GIS database.   Data was aggregated in 1x1 km grid cells which was used for further analysis of the seismic risk. Different thematic maps were designed for visualizing collected data and the results of the analysis.  The project was pilot for Tbilisi, incorporating modern scientific approach for the risk assessment.
