First field observation of environmental monitoring at pre-selected locations in Poti and Khobi

Within the framework of the Citizen Science Program of the "Digital Engagement of Citizens for Green Transformation" project, the first pilot field observation of environmental monitoring was conducted in Poti and Khobi on July 11 and 12.

Within the framework of the Citizen Science Program of the “Citizens' Digital Engagement for Green Transition” project, the first field observation of environmental monitoring was carried out in Khobi and Poti with the involvement of local volunteers.

The young people participating in the field observation, under the guidance of STEM Mentor Giorgi Gambashidze and teachers, collected the results of air and water indicators at pre-selected locations using EcoLab environmental sensors. The monitoring locations were determined taking into account the safety of the participants, as well as the possibility of observing and collecting data under various environmental conditions.

During the field observation, the participants measured environmental parameters, made records, prepared photo documentation and applied the knowledge gained during the training in practice.

This activity represented the field stage of the first cycle of environmental monitoring. In the next stage, participants will analyze the collected data, prepare a monitoring report and visual materials, the presentation of which will be held in schools and published on the GoGreen web portal.

Within the framework of the project, three more cycles of environmental monitoring are planned to be implemented over the next 12 months, which will allow participants to study the changes in the environment based on the data collected in different seasons and share them with the public.

The project is implemented by the organization Idea Design Group within the framework of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) “Green Future, Rights and Stability” project, which is funded by the Government of Denmark.
